SKRTEL: IT'S GOING TO BE A FRESH SLATE FOR LIVERPOOL

Former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has backed his former club to have a better start to the coming campaign than they did in the previous one. The Reds started their 2020-21 season against newly-promoted side Leeds United and were only able to snatch a close 4-3 win from Marcelo Bielsa's men in what was an exciting game of football to watch. After that match, Liverpool had a strange continuation to their season and became one of the worst clubs in the league, to the shock of many.

They started having a couple of issues which included their key players suffering several injury problems. Jurgen Klopp's first-choice central defense pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez was missed as both players added to the injury troubles at the Anfield club. Following the injuries suffered by some of their key o layers, as well as other problems, Liverpool began to produce lackluster performances on the pitch that saw them drop a lot of points in the process.

Their season was going from bad to worse right before their eyes and the next unwanted piece of news that surfaced was the rumor that star forward Mohamed Salah was keen to seal a move away from the club. During that period, Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid were said to be circling the player and were both keen to make an official bid for the Egypt international attacker.

However, Klopp was able to steer the club into a top-four finish and they kept hold of their Egyptian king as well as his strike partner Sadio Mane. Skrtel has now revealed that even though the Reds may find it a little more difficult to win the UEFA Champions League title next season, they have a chance to win the league title in the coming campaign.
