PEKARIK LOOKING TO FINISH CAREER WELL

Slovakia right-back Peter Pekarik is known as Mr. Reliable for his consistently good performances on the right side of defence and he would be hoping to continue in the same manner for his country at the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament. Euro 2020 is set to be the last major tournament for Pekarik who's set to call it quit with national team duty according to reports in the media.

Pekarik and Slovakia have been drawn in Group E of the Euro 2020 tournament alongside Spain, Poland and Sweden. Slovakia start their Euro 2020 campaign against Poland on Monday evening before taking on Sweden next week Friday. Their last group game is against three-time winners Spain on Wednesday, June 23.

Slovakia right-back Pekarik has spent around 15 years in the national team though he's not as famous as legends like Marek Hamsik and Martin Skrtel. Though he has never reached the fame of the likes of Hamsik and Istanbul Basaksehir defender Martin Skrtel but everyone associated with the Slovakia national team knows his worth. For around 15 years, Pekarik has been the constant modern wing back available to Slovakia on the right side and it's not surprising that he has been nicknamed Mr. Reliable by Hertha Berlin fans.

Pekarik would be appearing at his third major tournament for Slovakia at Euro 2020 and it could be his last one as pointed out earlier. The first major tournament for the right-sided defender was the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament in South Africa. His first European Championship was the last edition in France.

Peter Pekarik is one of the oldest players in the Slovakia squad and his leadership qualities would be very important as Slovakia target a good outing at Euro 2020. He might not be remembered in the history of Slovakian football like Marek Hamsik and Martin Skrtel but he has done enough to take his place among the country's football legends.
