Martin Skrtel discloses threat from Diego Costa

Liverpool come up against Chelsea this weekend hoping to get revenge for the 2-0 defeat suffered last season.

This defeat had more than just three points lost for Liverpool, as it ultimately saw the club lose the Premier League title as well. Liverpool do not appear to have recovered from this disappointment, as their form has plummeted since then. They come into the weekend after suffering two consecutive defeats. The shock 1-0 defeat against Newcastle was followed by a loss with the same score line against Real Madrid. Ahead of the match with Chelsea, defender Martin Skrtel has spoken about the threat posed by Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

The Spaniard is amongst the top scorers in the league. He has made a fantastic start to life in England. Skrtel, however, says that he has already come up against Costa when on international duty. The 26-year-old did not manage to score past him back then and he expects a similar outcome during the weekend. Chelsea were heavily criticised for their defensive tactics last season, but they have been one of the best teams to watch in the division this season. The blues have scored more goals than any other team. Skrtel has labelled Costa as the best striker in the league.

"This is a big game and every single player likes to play in these and compare against the best players in the world. In my eyes, Diego Costa is one of the best strikers in the world. I played against him in a game for Slovakia against Spain; he didn't score and I hope he won't score at the weekend as well. But it's not only about Costa, Chelsea play well as a team and will be a very tough opponent. But we believe we can beat them and get three points,” said Skrtel.
