Martin Skrtel Delighted To Be Part Of The King’s Cup

Martin Skrtel is expected to be one of the players who will be taking part in the King’s Cup 2018. The matches will involve Gabon, UAE, Thailand, and Slovakia. Thailand comes in as the defending champions. The Rajamangala Stadium will be hosting the matches in Bangkok. Slovakia prepares for the first game when they take on UAE on Thursday. Later that day, Thailand and Gabon will be facing off each other. The winners of each match will be taking on each other in a final Sunday. The losers of the two matches will be going up against each other in the third place play-off on Sunday.

Fans will be delighted to have witnessed some of the top stars in action. One among them his former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, who is part of the Slovakia setup. However, the major disappointment is the lack of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is unable to attend due to personal reasons.

The biggest disappointments for the UAE will be the absence of Omar Abdulrahman, who was recently crowned as the most valuable player in the 2016 AFC Champions League. Ali Mabkhout has faced a lot of disciplinary problems and has also been left out of the squad. Meanwhile, Martin Skrtel claimed that he is extremely delighted to be part of the setup in Thailand and he is looking forward to a strong tournament.
"Glad to be back again. I've been here with Liverpool before, the fans are fantastic, and it’s a full house back then. Obviously, we're looking forward to tomorrow's match," said Martin Skrtel. "We're really sad about what has happened to him. His absence will obviously affect us. But this will also give the chance to other players to perform as well. We will play for each other and for him," said Gabon goalkeeper Didier Ovono about the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
