Manchester United doesn’t like Skrtel cause he succeeded with Liverpool

Back on October of 2016, Fenerbahce travelled to Old Trafford in order to face off with Manchester United for the group stages of the Europa League.

During this match in specific, the Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel was booed every single time that he touched the ball.

The 32 year old centre-back has talked about those matches of last year as he said:
“Manchester United fans don’t like me because I was a success at Liverpool, I was part of the team that left Old Trafford with a win on a few occasion and considering the reception I got I must have done well at Liverpool. The competition between Manchester United and Liverpool is really big. We can compare it to the Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby in Turkey."

Fenerbahce and Manchester United eventually went on to advance past the group stages as they were the 2 clubs that managed to snatch the top 2 spots.

The Turkish side eventually went on to reach the Round of 32 during the 2016-17 edition of the UEFA Europa League before getting knocked out by Krasnodar with an aggregate scoreboard of 2-1 while Manchester United managed to emerge as the champions after reaching the finals and overcoming Ajax.

Martin Skrtel joined Fenerbahce on July of 2016, which means that this recently concluded season was the debut of the Slovakian defender as a player of Fenerbahce and he has played a huge role as he made 31 Turkish Super Lig appearances which helped in sealing the 3rd place of the top tier domestic league in Turkey.

It’s expected that Martin Skrtel will continue being a big influence in Fenerbahce as the Slovakian defender was signed for a fee of €5 million and his contract will see the veteran player stay with Fenerbahce at least until 2019.
