LIVERPOOL LAND JORDAN IBE

Liverpool have defeated the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham – at least when it comes to signing the next big wonderkid in English football.

Jordan Ibe is touted as the next major thing in English football after coming through the ranks of Wycombe recently. The 16-year-old has impressed scouts from all over the world and it has already been rumoured that Manchester United and Tottenham were preparing big offers for the player. However, Liverpool have come under the both these clubs to snatch the youngster from Wycombe.

His goal against Sheffield Wednesday back in October was the starting point of his spotlight, as he soon became the youngest ever player to score a goal in the football league. The momentous occasion came just a few days before this 16th birthday, and after turning 16, it is not surprising to see a long list of potential clubs interested in signing him. Liverpool are thought to have paid around £ 500,000 for the player, despite being relatively young. Kenny Dalglish will be hoping that he turns out to be the next big thing in English football. Liverpool signed Jonjo Shelvey a few years ago from Charlton Athletic, but he seems to have not made the progress the club had expected from him.

Liverpool announced on their website that Jordan Ibe will be making the move to Anfield in the summer. The last appearance for Wycombe came in the match against MK Dons, a game that they managed to lose narrowly 4-3. Even though the club captain Gareth Ainsworth said that the player must be kept for the better future of Wycombe, it seems that the club had decided to take advantage of the massive transfer fee – despite the fact that he has not played in the Premier League – provided by Liverpool.
